How to Renew a Loan by Email

When a book you have borrowed is due, The Law Library by JADE emails you a reminder. You can now renew the loan without signing in – just reply to that email.

Reply to renew

Open the reminder and look for the line that reads “Or simply reply to this email to renew.” Hit reply and send. You do not need to write anything – sending the reply is enough.

What happens next

If the book is a chambers copy, it renews straight away and you receive a confirmation email with the new due date.

If the book is a colleague’s copy or belongs to another library, your reply is forwarded to the owner, who approves the renewal. You will be told the request has been received.

If the loan cannot be renewed – for example it has already been returned or has reached its renewal limit – you will get a short, plain-English reply explaining why.

Where this works

Reminders and reply-to-renew are part of The Law Library at lawlibrary.io. They sit alongside the wider JADE suite for barristers: Conspectus at brief.lawlibrary.io (also conspectus.lawlibrary.io), Jot at jot.lawlibrary.io, and the CPD Recorder at cpd.lawlibrary.io.
