If you practise in Victoria — or deal with Victorian case law in any capacity — there’s a resource you should know about: the Victorian Reports.
Published since 1875, the Victorian Reports are the authorised law reports of Victoria, carefully selected and approved with headnotes by the Council of Law Reporting. The digital edition contains the full text of all Victorian Reports since 1905 — the most comprehensive collection, fully indexed and linked.
Seamless JADE integration
What makes the Victorian Reports particularly useful for JADE users is the seamless integration. Victorian Reports cases appear in your JADE search results. Citations are cross-linked — if a reported case cites a provision, you can trace it through the JADE Citator. You can set JADE Alerts on Victorian Reports decisions and use JADEmarks to annotate them, just as you would with any other case on JADE.
In practical terms, this means you don’t need to leave JADE to access the authorised reports. They’re woven into the research workflow you already use.
What you get
A Victorian Reports digital subscription gives you full access to all reports dating back to 1905. Every decision is fully searchable and linked to later case consideration. PDF copies are designed for greater utility and readability. Current and historical bound print volumes are also available for those who prefer physical copies.
Digital access is $45 per month or $450 per year (saving 17%). Print subscriptions and individual bound volumes are available separately.
CPD seminars
Victorian Reports also runs a CPD seminar series covering topics like criminal juries, equitable principles, probate, and Victorian court practice. These are practical, topical sessions — a good reminder that the Victorian Reports is a living, active publication, not just an archive.
Part of the BarNet family
The Victorian Reports are published by Little William Bourke, a wholly owned subsidiary of BarNetwork Pty Limited — the same team behind JADE and Jasmine AI. Enterprise subscribers can access both JADE Professional and Victorian Reports (digital and print) as part of a tailored package. Contact help@jade.io to discuss your organisation’s needs.
